In Beginning Yoga classes you will practice Hatha Yoga taught in the Svaroopa® Yoga style. Each class will combine physical poses, yogic philosophy and breathing practice to increase muscle tone and flexibility, help you manage stress and/or chronic pain.
You will begin each class in Shavasana, yoga’s relaxation pose and continue with Ujjayi Pranyama, full yoga breadth.
You will then start doing active poses that begin by releasing the muscles connected to your tailbone—the pivot point of your body, and continue with poses through your sacrum, waist area (lumbar vertebrae) and rib cage.
With enough release in your spine, your whole body will begin to realign from the inside outward. The changes will automatically extend down your legs, through your hips, knees, ankles, and feet, and up into your shoulders, neck and skull. This spinal release will open more space for the intervertebral discs and delicate nerve roots that coordinate every muscle, bone, artery, organ and gland in your body. These opening also lift mechanical compression off the internal organs, improving their functioning immediately. With less tension throughout the body, your vital systems find their natural balance, your breathing opens up easily, and your vitality and physical stamina improve.
